Many of us are afraid of our natural hair texture. We have not been taught, in our youth, to embrace who we are naturally. This phenomenon has been a disservice to generations of men, women and children who have no idea how to care for, or style the hair that grows from their heads naturally.

Our Good Hair Roots
As the daughter of two hair care professionals, Danyale Thomas, Good Hair Salon’s Owner and Artistic Director, seemed destined to enter the hair care industry. Although she has certainly inherited the passion from her parents, she has carved out her own niche.
In 2000, Danyale returned to the hair care industry after a number of years in the fashion industry.
After committing to the “big chop” and going natural, Danyale realized she could no longer perform unhealthy services on her customers. At this point, she decided to work exclusively with natural hair, which included educating clients transitioning away from chemical straightening.
Having worked in Oakland as a natural hair stylist, Danyale moved back home to Seattle in 2003. Initially the idea of a natural hair care salon was a challenge. Many professionals in the community were skeptical that a “Good Hair Salon” would be successful.
However, with her mother always by her side as a loving, driven and honest (almost to a fault!) force in her life, Danyale opened the doors of the Good Hair Salon in March of 2007. As Danyale recalls, “It was like people were just waiting for someone to show up and be of service, to offer them something different.
The enthusiastic support of the “natural” community and knowledgeable hair artists has helped Good Hair Salon become a leading hair force in the natural hair care industry.
